周宁1999年创办了中国第一所摄影高等学府——南方摄影学院，填补了中国专业摄影教育的空白，为中国摄影人才的系统化培养和影像文化的推广奠定了坚实基础。

周宁的摄影艺术作品个性鲜明，风格独特，曾多次在中国、韩国、美国等国举办个人摄影展，其代表作《水韵》系列作品更是引发了国际艺术界的广泛关注。2007年11月，应希腊安德烈亚斯·帕潘德里欧总理基金会邀请赴希腊雅典举办《水韵》影展。其作品还多次亮相全球顶级摄影盛会，包括美国国际摄影艺术经销商协会（AIPAD）主办的纽约摄影博览会、国际摄影组织（Photo LA）主办的洛杉矶国际摄影艺术博览会等汇聚全球一线摄影艺术家的权威平台，深受收藏界的青睐。周宁被中国艺术摄影家协会授予“当代杰出摄影家”荣誉称号。

在艺术商业领域，周宁同样具有前瞻视野，于美国加州拉古娜海滩（Laguna Beach, California）等多地创立并运营全球连锁画廊——周宁画廊（NING ZHOU GALLERY），致力于推动东西方影像艺术的交流与收藏，成为连接中国摄影艺术与国际市场的重要桥梁。

In 1999, Ning Zhou founded China's first institution of higher education dedicated to photography—South Institution of Photography—filling a critical gap in specialized photography education in China. This pioneering effort laid a solid foundation for the systematic training of photographic talent and the promotion of visual culture in the country.

Ning Zhou's photographic works are distinguished by their distinctive personality and unique style. His solo exhibitions have been held in numerous countries, including China, South Korea, and the United States. His representative series, Water Rhyme, garnered widespread attention in the international art world. In November 2007, he was invited by the Andreas G. Papandreou Foundation in Greece to present the Water Rhyme exhibition in Athens. His works have also been featured at premier global photography events, such as the New York Photography Expo organized by the Association of International Photography Art Dealers (AIPAD) and the Los Angeles International Photography Art Expo hosted by Photo LA. These platforms, which gather leading photography artists from around the world, have helped his works gain significant recognition among collectors. Ning Zhou has been honored with the title of "Outstanding Contemporary Photographer" by the China Art Photographers Association.

In the realm of art commerce, Ning Zhou has demonstrated foresight by establishing and operating the global chain gallery—Ning Zhou Gallery—with locations in Laguna Beach, California, and other international art hubs. The gallery is dedicated to fostering exchange and collection of Eastern and Western photographic art, serving as a vital bridge connecting Chinese photography with the international market.
